Do you allow 24/7 access to upload/modify my site?
Each account comes with one FTP account. You have full access to your space via FTP 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so you can update your site at your leisure. [Top]

Do you allow adult/illegal content?

Is it possible for me to upgrade a hosting account? What are the charges involved?
You are free to upgrade your plan anytime during your stay with us. There are no additional charges for your change of plan. If you are upgrading your plan with us, you just have to pay for the pro-rated usage of the new plan till the end of the month/year. [Top]

How soon will my account be set up and ready for use?
Once we have processed your credit card payment your account will be set up within 2-12 hours. We have a manual screening process, so we don't offer automatic account creation. Your site can be uploaded to our servers immediately after receiving the welcome email, which will contain the IP address for your account, plus the password for the username chosen during sign-up. In fact, we recommend that clients start uploading their site as soon as possible after setup is complete, so that once domain transfer is completed, the site will be available for use by your visitors. Propagation is the process where DNS servers throughout the world update their records to point to your new hosting provider. [Top]

What is a Domain Name?
Each individual computer on the Internet has it's own address called an IP (Internet Protocol) address. DNS (Domain Name System) was created to replace the usual IP addresses (usually they look like "232.105.X.X") with domain names, since they're much easier to remember. [Top]

Will I be the owner of my domain name?

What if I want hosting but don't want lankawebhosting.com to register my domain?
You can take care of your domain name registration. When you order the site, untick the register domain option. You can then setup your domain to point to our servers by setting the name servers to ns1.lankawebhosting.com and ns2.lankawebhosting.com. [Top]

How long does it take before my new domain name is active?
Once your domain name has been registered (or transferred, if applicable), it usually takes about 72 hours before it is visible to all users of the Internet. All Internet providers must update their records (DNS tables) to reflect new site locations. This process is called propagation. [Top]

Do you offer subdomains/addon domains/parked domains?

For the standard package, you get a maximum of 30 email accounts, while for the advanced package you get unlimited number of email accounts. [Top]

Can I send unsolicited email (SPAM)?
No. We have a zero tolerance policy towards spamming and your account will be suspended immediately without any notice from us. Please read our AUP for more details. [Top]


What sort of payment do lankawebhosting.com accept?
We are currently accepting any type of major credit cards. However, cash/cheque/direct transfer payments will be available very soon.[Top]

Will my web hosting account renew automatically?
Yes, your hosting account will renew automatically until you tell us to cancel. This means you will continue to be invoiced at each billing cycle, a few days before the due date. Please note that this automatic renewal facility will be available for credit card payments only. You have to manually renew you domain if you pay by any other means. [Top]

Please tell me more about your customer support. What is the typical response time?
We offer support 24/7 by Email, FAQ's, tutorials and Help Desk (requires Login). Top priority is assigned to Helpdesk support request tickets. When our customers request support via helpdesk, we answer as quickly as possible, usually within no longer than 2 to hours but frequently very much faster (within minutes). [Top]

How soon will my account be set up if I don't pay by Credit Card?
Once you submit your order we will begin processing your new account. Your order will be placed in a queue until payment has been received and then it will be setup by our staff. Once it has been setup you will receive an e-mail from us with your account details (login information, etc) so you may begin using your account which can take up to 24 hours after payment has been received.
